APPI’s Reformer Certification Series is an extensive course that guides you through a wide
range of exercises, providing detailed insights into the purpose and methodology behind each
one, a hallmark of our renowned programme.
The course will progress the exercises from beginner all the way to full strength and
conditioning exercises. This course is spread across three levels, all of which must be
completed before taking the Reformer Exam. During the course we’ll analyse each exercise to
look at the client’s performance of the movement, any dysfunction that we may see and how to
assess and manage this to ensure that your client achieves their goal.
The course is open to anyone who has done a 2+ day Matwork course or has completed the
Matwork Fundamentals course.
Level 1
The introductory Programme covering everything you
need to know about the ‘anatomy of the Reformer’, the
links between Matwork and Reformer, how to introduce
a client to the reformer and the essential safety
elements of getting a client on and off the reformer. It
will also cover the beginner series of movements
focusing on foot series, single leg series, side series, and
beginner level upper body and core work.
Level 2
We move into some of the intermediate movements,
advancing the core exercises to begin to really
strengthen and tone the core. We begin to explore
various positions on the Reformer – lying, sitting,
standing and split standing.
We progress to higher level leg and arm strength and
begin to incorporate some of the more advanced
mobility and stretch work.
Level 3
Concentration on the higher level intermediate and
advanced exercises, this course challenges your
strength, co-ordination, mobility and endurance.
At this point, the reformer really moves from a
rehabilitation machine to a strength and conditioning
machine as the isolation of various muscle groups allows
us to work you to fatigue and beyond! In this course we
also advance your teaching skills and look at
Programmes around both 1:1 and group teaching
sessions culminating in a great session planning
workshop to ensure you are ready to deliver 1:1 and
group sessions

Hayley is originally from Scotland and is now based in Dubai, where she works as a Licensed Sports Therapist with a Master’s degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine from University College London. She first discovered Pilates as part of her dance training from a young age, using it to build strength, control, and balance – qualities that became the foundation of both her movement and rehabilitation philosophy.
Hayley’s background as a dancer, combined with her clinical expertise in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and her experience as an educator, allows her to bring a unique perspective to Pilates. She blends hands-on therapy with Clinical Pilates to support recovery, restore movement, and help prevent injury, always aiming to bridge the gap between movement and medicine.
Over the years, Hayley has been recognised with five industry awards, including Pilates Instructor of the Year and Educator of the Year at the Dubai FIT Awards and REPS UAE Awards. As an APPI Master Trainer, she is passionate about delivering high-quality education and inspiring other professionals to integrate Pilates into rehabilitation and sporting performance.
